Transparency
My first large piece of work based on an organic form that provides a natural elegance. The colored discs bring cheerfulness and playfulness to the work. The ever-changing sunlight keeps the sculpture in "motion." The iron will "live" over time under the influence of rust. It will oxidize to the beautiful orange-red.
Above all, I want to convey a sense of warmth with this sculpture.
This sculpture was one of the winners of the National Expo 2022. During the period December 2022 and January 2023 it was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

Traveller
"Traveller" Tekst- Lien Franssens
Is net zoals de rest een verteller
Het verhaal van vreugde en speelsheid
gaan mee doorheen de tijd
Verlicht door het zonlicht
is er beweging in het zicht
Gemengd met ijzer
zo wordt de roest Keizer
Het roest vergroot
naar het prachtige oranjerood.

A Soldier's Fingerprint
Metal Artworks
Small metal work pieces that often arise spontaneously. For example, the four leaf clovers were made because my neighbor boy was looking for them in the garden and unfortunately did not find them. Therefore, I made this in metal for him. It is important when making these works that it leaves a good and positive feeling. Both for me and for the viewer.
I call this series "Instant Happiness"
Metal Leaf
Fire Pits in Cortensteel
Dimensions: heigth 2.10m - width: 1.10m
With "Translucensy," the follow-up to "Transparency" is a reality. Colors are also essential in this work. They bring cheerfulness, playfulness and warmth to the organic forms of the sculpture. The sun can shine on this to its heart's content and will provide ever-changing light.
Again, over time the steel will rust and take on a life of its own.

This sculpture symbolizes how an individual can be contained in by a bad person, event or threat making it difficult to make a correct assessment of the situation. The focus is completely absorbed by this situation. With the sculpture I want to indicate that this only occupies a small part of your perception. With this I want to try to broaden the view and show that outside this bad situation there is a whole world that is beautiful and absolutely worthwhile. As you can see, the space occupied by the "bad" part is very limited and the space around it is still very large.
The yellow metal wires holding the cube give the tension between being thrown back and forth. The cube has one shiny surface this symbolizes hope and strength to break the tunnel vision.
With this sculpture, I want you to take a moment to think about the potential "vulnerability" when we give our fingerprint to any agency.
Our fingerprint is unique and identifies you as a person. If we have to hand
over our fingerprints to e.g. the government (just think of applying for a new
identity card) they will be stored in databases. How well are these databases
secured? Who has access to them? All questions to which we do not have a
conclusive answer. Especially if we look to the future and what A.I. will bring
us.
The sculpture is made in metal, the lines in our fingerprint are inlaid with gold leaf just to show how unique and valuable our fingerprint is.
Detail of the sculpture
The first finished sculpture of a new series of metal sculptures. Name of the series still being worked out.
The meaning of the sculpture is obvious, but the viewer is free to give it their own interpretation.
Made entirely of metal. Letters are plasma hand-carved.
The figures are polished so the viewer can mirror themselves in them.
Dimensions: 60cm x 40 cm x20 cm
"Radiant Inspiration" - attempts to capture the essence of hope, happiness and resilience, symbolized by the yellow glass in the black metal cube.
With this work, I want to raise the question of why we still put up metal fences to mark borders. Shouldn't we as humanity work on more humane solutions.
White alabaster stone forms the basis of the work. Smooth paths form a boundless terrain of possibilities and diversity. But it is precisely where the stone meets the cool touch of the rusted metal that a moment of contemplation about the meaning of borders and the universal desire for freedom arises.
By working together and supporting each other, we can create a world where freedom of travel is no longer a privilege, but a fundamental right for all. Let us leave behind the metal fences of the past and open the gates to a new future, where borders are just lines on a map and freedom is unlimited.
A Soldier's Fingerprint Gedicht van Lien Franssens
Beautiful rusted metal leaf, ideal as a sculpture in your garden - beautiful in winter and summer.

These fire pits are unique and handmade from 3mm thick Corten steel. Getting to work with the plasma device and welder is just awesome fun. Making these fire pits is therefore pure fun.
